About the Event
With special thanks to funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund we are delighted to offer these wonderful Ancient Roman Inspired blacksmithing sessions.Â
Throughout these fun-filled workshops and with support from our expert blacksmith, Darren, you will have the opportunity to have a go at making a range of replica Ancient Roman items that were commonly used during that era including making pilums, caltrops, scissors, hand sickles and ornate hair pins. Not only will you try your hand at making these fascinating items, you will also develop your knowledge of Ancient Roman blacksmithing practices that were common during that era and examine how some of those practices are still used today.Â
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Please note, the items that you make during these blacksmithing sessions will be displayed in our upcoming exhibition, therefore you will NOT be able to take items home with you at the end of the session.Â
Please visit the back of 31 Norfolk Street, Sunniside, Sunderland, SR1 1EE. Events will take place directly behind MBC's building.Â
